Translation

[edit]

I’ve replaced the translation of the lyrics (which I notice had been deleted in the past).
As this is the English language Wikipaedia, it seems ridiculous to include three verses of German lyrics, which 90% of readers won’t understand, and at the same time refuse to include an English translation, so that the rest of us can know what the song is saying. Otherwise, what is the point of this? There are English language songs set to the same tune; it would make more sense (per WP:Notability) to have an article on one of them, and mention (in passing) that a German song (link to de:WP) has the same tune. Israeli version

[edit]

I don’t know the details, but this was adopted to an Israeli kid’s song Yonatan Hakatan (little Jonathan) 98.116.12.200 (talk) 21:15, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hänschen and Hans?

[edit]

Both ‘Hänschen’ and ‘Hans’ are seen in Literal translation section. Should they be unified? If so, I hope there’s someone to fix it; I actually hesitate to edit it by myself since I’m not a native English speaker. SharpL (talk) 04:31, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thats intentional, you can see the same thing in the German lyrics. "Hänschen" is a diminutive of "Hans" in German, so the original changes from "Hänschen" to "Hans" to reflect him growing up. Yoneda-Emma (talk) 16:14, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
