Identification[edit]

Hi.. I don't know how to edit these articles. I have seen Hadedas in "captivity" turn white. Hadada/Hadeda?[edit]

Hadada Ibis - here in South Africa is invariably (in Roberts, Newman's et. al.) called either a Hadeda Ibis or just a Hadeda. Why is it listed here under Hadada Ibis? There is an international standard for bird names, but I do not know a place that lists them. Nevertheless, Roberts' 7 names are all in accordance with these and lists the name as Hadeda. The name on the site is spelt incorrectly guys. It should read as "Hadeda" and not "hadada".

The name originates from the loud raucous cry these birds make when startled or when flying in groups.

Well, maybe all the compilers of those list have never been to South Africa and do not know South African English?? A google search(e.g. http://travel.mongabay.com/uganda/images/ug4_4762.html) and living in South Africa will lead you to know that it is spelled Hadeda, or Hadida. Colour of Hadida/Hadeda[edit]

I can not recall ever seeing a BROWN hadida. I only know the GREY/BLACK ones. If you look on the photo's all three of the SA hadidas are GREY/BLACK.--Lorraine Joubert (talk) 17:19, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
