Page move
[edit]I moved the article from Halltorps to Halltorp. While a construction such as Halltorps gård ("Halltorp Farm/Manor") would be correct in Swedish and presumably is the source of the earlier title, the "s" is a genitive ending and does not belong to the name when it stands alone. up+land 12:18, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Request for administrator help
[edit]{{help}}
This page was just moved by a user to the pagename Halltorp citing grammar. the fact is that Halltorps usually occurs in the literature and in spoken terms as the "s" ending. i am proposing to move this page to Halltorps Manor, which satisfies the grammar interest of Uppland. When creating this article, I used the page Halltorps Manor as a redirect, so that admin help is needed to move the page to Halltorps Manor. I will take care of any ensuing double redirects, since i created all of the links in the first place. thank you. Anlace 14:35, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- It still wouldn't be correct. Standing in isolation, "Halltorps" would be translated as "Halltorp's" or "of Halltorp", but English wouldn't normally use the genitive ending where Swedish does. "Halltorps (herr)gård" would rather be rendered as "Halltorp Manor" in English. up+land 16:21, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
