Regarding the section Coat of Arms, it seemed better to insert an English blazon in full, not because there was anything wrong with the text before but to avoid the possibility of later pedantry.

Not sure if it's really a blazon, but the city law about its coat of arms say

Das Wappen zeigt auf einem in drei Zeilen aus silber und rot geschachten Balken Tisch und Femlinde, erinnernd an den im 13. Jahrhundert bestandenen Freistuhl.

It works fine in German because German heraldry in any case uses modern language for heraldic blazon, so the blazon can be quite naturally an integral part of the text, like here; whereas in English, heraldic blazoning has a specific vocabulary all of its own. So I had been thinking about whether it wd be necessary to add the full English blazon separately (which for interest wd be: "Or, a base chequy of three rows gules and argent, a linden tree vert behind a stone judgement table of the third") for the English version, even though a separate blazon adds nothing in the German version. Because these are very straightforward arms, and it is quite a short neat page, I decided it was better not to do it. Staffelde 15:13, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
