Fatal accident

"1888 Hampton Wick, August 8.

At Hampton Wick an engine ran into a passenger train, five persous being killed and many injured; but the London and South -Western Company, on whose line the oolHsIun occurred, were held blameless, the coroner's jury returning a verdict of " misadventure,'*"

refers to an accident which I think happened on one of the road bridges at Hampton Wick station for I have seen a photograph of the populace staring up at what little could be seen of the collision from street level.
