Infantry vs Cavalry
[edit]OK, I shot from the hip on that one...I figured cavalry trumpet, yellow cord, hmmm, must be cavalry. (Yes, I zoomed in after, it's a faded blue cord). BUT, also: This hat is pinned up on the right, which the article says is the mode for the cavalry. So what gives? Either the article is wrong, or the hat is wrong. Someone who knows this stuff, please correct. SigPig 04:22, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
The hat is wrong if it is infantry and pinned on the right. Infantry is according to reg. pinned on the right. Also, there were no Hardee Hats revived in Vietnam. The Cavalry campaign hat is not the Hardee. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.225.52.243 (talk) 03:14, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
There are several photographs of Ulysses S Grant taken during the American Civil War which show him wearing a Hardee hat without insignia, and without either side of the brim pinned up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.212.80.149 (talk) 00:23, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
