High school

[edit]

It mentions that he attended public schools in Allentown. What high school? PAWiki 02:00, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It could only have been Allentown High, since Trexler was not Catholic. However, was the seminary he attended a college or prep school?Allreet (talk) 19:45, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Monsignor Fink's 1935 bio of Trexler indicates (but does not state explicitly) that the seminary was a prep school. Allreet (talk) 00:36, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A goldmine in search of a prospector

[edit]

For all the sources mentioned, much remains to be done on Gen. Trexler. For example, there's no mention of Trexler Park and his summer home, Lil-Le-Hi Trout Nursery, other contributions to Allentown's parks system, the Game Preserve (and its tie to Wild Bill), Hickory Run, Romper Day, and everything else that's attributed to him. And those are just the legacy issues.

The account of Trexler's business career barely scratches the surface — though at the same time, it includes the traditional puffery about how Trexler did it all single handedly (as if he was the sole founder of PP&L and Bell, for example). But as the illustration reflects, he did have his fingers in everything. The goldmine is that historically no person in the history of the Lehigh Valley wielded more power and had more influence not only on his own times but on every generation that followed. Frankly, most of what is here should eventually be scrapped (WP:CP?), and an entirely new narrative developed. Allreet (talk) 20:23, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
