Copyright violation
[edit]This edit appears to be a blatant copyright violation, taken from this obituary. I have reverted it. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:51, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Content disputed by User:Hayneman
[edit]User:Hayneman who says he is Pitch’s son suggests that Pitch did NOT play harmonica on the version of Colonel Bogey used in Bridge Over the River Kwai though multiple reliable sources suggest he did, The Times [1]] The Guardian [2] and Harmonica.co.uk [3]. They also assert that the John Lennon meeting never happened though this is also reliably sourced. Theroadislong (talk) 10:33, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
- You insultingly suggest that I 'claim to be Pitch's son'. So do you want my birth certificate? Furthermore the published 'Independent' obituary has my name at the bottom (if you'd bothered to check) and the same facts informed the other printed obits - all supplied by me. Such a scurrilous suggestion emphasises the utter unreliability of self-imposed 'Wikipedia experts' Meanwhile, the quoted so-called 'reliable sources'are merely repeating the incorrect stuff that's already on the unmonitored internet. But here's a real fact. According to Malcolm Arnold's biographer Paul Harris, the 'Colonel Bogey March' sequence in 'The Bridge Over the River Kwai' was post-synced using '18 whistlers and a piccolo'. For verification see 'BBC iPlayer - Discovering... - Series 1: 3. The Bridge on the River Kwai - Malcolm Arnold'. The sequence runs from 28'18" to 31'44". In the section at 30'50" Harris states'if you listen carefully you can hear the piccolo'. So that unimpeachable source confirms that there was never a harmonica on the 'River Kwai' soundtrack. Unless you still know otherwise... Hayneman (talk) 19:28, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Please assume good faith, I cannot know for certain that you are his son and it makes zero difference if you are, we STILL require independent reliable sources and the content presently has two reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 19:44, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- The article doesn't actually say that he played on the film soundtrack, but Pitch DID record a version of the song with Ron Goodwin & His Orchestra there is a version here [4]. Theroadislong (talk) 20:07, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Furthermore, your chum Ghmytle has posted a grand total of 1406 other Wikipedia postings on a vast range of varied and diverse subjects. How can one person be a self-confessed expert in so many fields? His and your responses suggest a seriously unhealthy obsession with the success of others than can only be pitied... Hayneman (talk) 22:29, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- You have entirely misunderstood how wikipedia works, no one has to be an expert here, we merely report on what reliable sources say that's all. Please STOP with the personal attacks or your time here will be brief. Theroadislong (talk) 22:34, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
