Page Just Created - Notes and Plans
[edit]Frankly, I was surprised this article didn't exist yet, so I created it. The link to the smithsonian institution web site that features the tool chest of Henry O. Studley is also featured in the Toolbox article, probably among other articles.
The purpose of this page is to focus on the life of the craftsman and creator of The Studley tool chest. At the moment the article has little information on either the man or his tool chest, but in the future it will have more bibliographic information. I don't believe the tool chest itself warrents its own page. Instead I will set up some redirects to the anchor about the tool chest. There is a ton of information about this remarkable tool chest, and anybody who is genuinely interested in tools should check out the episode of The New Yankee Workshop where Norm gets to take a tour of the private collector's collection featuring the Studley tool chest. The workings and moving parts of Studley's work of art blew me away...my jaw hit the floor! CoolMike 22:09, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
References to add
[edit]I just found these two references that might be worth looking into:
Schleining, Lon. "Treasure Chests: The Legacy of Extraordinary Boxes" Newtown, CT: Taunton Press. 2001. ISBN-10: 1561583626, ISBN-13: 978-1561583621
Tolpin, Jim. "The Toolbox Book: A Craftsman's Guide to Tool Chests, Cabinets, and Storage Systems" Newtown, CT: Taunton Press. 1998. ISBN-10: 1561582727, ISBN-13: 978-1561582723
Also, this article is about changes and repairs made to the tool chest ca. 2006. http://www.finewoodworking.com/ProjectsAndDesign/ProjectsAndDesignArticle.aspx?id=28061
I am looking for more info about the man himself, but keep getting distracted by information about his toolbox. CoolMike (talk) 15:26, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
