[edit]Added some information, corrected some vandalism ("smells a bit" a few times on the page), edited the info box and removed the bit about the school rebuild as it wasn't in encyclopedic style. If anyone knows about the Building Schools for the Future rebuild that might be useful? If I get time to pop back and continue I will do. Joncojonathan (talk) 19:46, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Content dispute on if the film Heartstopper was filmed here
[edit]There seems to be a content dispute building up about whether the references supporting the claim in the title are accurate. I personally am on the side that they are accuate, but others say otherwise. Are they accurate or should the info be removed? interstatefive (talk) - just another roadgeek 18:06, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- These references are inaccurate and should be removed. The school was not used as a location for Heartstopper, and this has been misreported in the media. Members of staff at the school will confirm that no filming for any series has taken place within the past two years. The articles from the Windsor Observer (https://www.windsorobserver.co.uk/news/20100321.heartstopper-netflix-show-filmed-slough-windsor/?ref=rss) and Maidenhead Advertiser (https://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/gallery/burnham/176689/hit-netflix-show-heartstopper-filmed-in-burnham-windsor-and-slough.html) confirm an alternative location in Berkshire, the now-closed Burnham Park Academy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_E-ACT_Burnham_Park_Academy) and Upton Court Grammar School in Slough. - I took a quick look at WP:RSN and WP:RSP. Most of the sources provided (both supporting the claim heartstopper was filmed here and not) have no consensus on reliability, but INews (which supports my side) seems to be generally reliable. That may be a good point to consider. interstatefive (talk) - just another roadgeek 18:28, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- I am reliably informed that the school has contacted media outlets it has found to be misreporting filming at the site and asked them to correct their articles. Once these have been corrected by the outlets in question, this should resolve any issue here. Pedantrycorner (talk) 18:39, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for engaging here, and for providing these references. I think the issue with these reports is that they are quite general, while the ones in the article are very specific - the existing references identify this school as the filming location by name as the stand-in for the main location of the show. Looking at your links, they discuss filming occurring in those areas, but don't identify the schools as being the main filming location.
- Having said all that, as someone who was just passing by and noticed this cropping up, it may be worth considering for all editors whether this information is really necessary if we have potential conflict in the sourcing. Tony Fox (arf!) 18:41, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- Completely valid point. This feels like more of an "interesting tidbit you'd find in the IMDB trivia section" item and less Wikipedia-y. PureRED | talk to me | 18:50, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- Since there's no further discussion here for a while, I'm just going to pull that bit for now. Tony Fox (arf!) 17:32, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- ...or the IP that ignored the discussion a week ago could do it, I guess, sure. Tony Fox (arf!) 17:34, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
