Ethnic Composition of the Honolulu Rifles
[edit]The first company of the Honolulu Rifles included men who were not solely Caucasian. King Kamehameha IV was the Colonel of the HR, first mentioned in The Pacific Commercial Advertiser in May 1859. Charles Burnett Wilson, the Scottish-Tahitian father of Honolulu mayor John H.
