Location and history[edit]
This article does not appear to be correct. From what I have read, including the references to this article, the House of Industry was set up only in 1772. It consisted of several hospitals and a workhouse and was located on the north side of the city, Rutland St., as far as I recall. Can anyone confirm these facts? Otherwise I will re-write. - Feel free to overhaul article. A caveat to be aware of is inconsistency of terminology in sources - terms like Almshouse, House of Industry workhouse, and Workhouse are apparently used interchangeably sometimes.

After the passing of the Irish Poor Law 1838 this became the North Dublin Union Workhouse and that on James's Street became the South Dublin Union. The South Dublin Union Workhouse closed in 1918 and became St. Kevin's Hospital, and later St. James's Hospital. Not sure how long the North Dublin Union went on for ... the building is gone now.
