Amedee of Provence?
[edit]according to the "roglo" genealogy site (which is not to be trusted, but can't be wrong all the time), umberto i's father was one "amedee of provence," son of charles constantine of provence (count of vienne), who in turn was the son of louis iii "the blind," king of provence and "emperor of the west" (we would retroactively style him as one of the "holy roman emperors"). which means (perhaps) that the house of savoy is descended in the direct male line from charles martel. hence, the members of the house of savoy are in fact male line "carolingians" (or "proto-carolingians")!! i've never heard of this "amedee" before. he isn't mentioned in the wikipedia articles on charles constantine or umberto i. but he may have existed. "roglo" lists one "Jean-marie thiebaud" as its source for this information. my french is a little rusty, but mr thiebaud appears to be a gentleman who has done extensive research on french genealogy. maybe he knows something that the rest of us don't........75.68.9.233 (talk) 02:12, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Umberto?
[edit]Hi! :) Why is this count named in Italian, when he lived in an epoque when Italian language barely existed, and for sure very far away from Savoy county? He should be named as "Humbert", which is the French and English version, this would make a lot much sense. I wait for your answers. Thank you :) --Simoncik84 (talk) 16:33, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
- No one answered, I proceeded to replace Umberto with Humbert. --Simoncik84 (talk) 01:36, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Unclear paternity
[edit]This entry says that Humbert I, Count of Savoy was son of Amadeus, Count of Belley. The Italian version of this entry says the father was Beroldo of Saxony. Something does not add up.
