Lyrics
[edit]Hi, does anyone know where I can find the lyrics to this track? I have tried to search for it, but I keep coming up with different lyrics and I don't know which version is the right one. Maybe the link could be added to the article too, if someone finds an authoritative link to the lyrics. Thank you! A Gate Through The Past (talk) 00:10, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Try the liner notes in the album. Also, there are two versions of the lyrics. The original used the chorus "I'm afraid of the animals." and the later versions used "Americans" instead of "animals". All versions were still titled "I'm Afraid of Americans", though.

Comments
[edit]- "The song was co-written by Bowie and Brian Eno and originally recorded during the sessions for Bowie's 1995 album Outside. This version was released on the soundtrack of the 1995 film Showgirls." → "Co-written by Bowie and Brian Eno, It was originally recorded during the sessions for Bowie's 1995 album Outside; this version was released on the soundtrack of the 1995 film Showgirls."
- Done
- "while the 'Johnny' of the former craves objects of status through self-entitlement, the 'Johnny' of the latter emotional abuses his wife due to his lower status.[11]" I think there is a typo at "emotional" → "while the 'Johnny' of the former craves objects of status through self-entitlement, the 'Johnny' of the latter emotionally abuses his wife due to his lower status.[11]"
- Fixed
- "O'Leary writes that the remake retained the original's "'laughing' hook" and "synth hook pinging around an E♭ octave." missing quotation mark near the end
- Fixed
- "According to Spitz, the video received heavy rotation on MTV, a first for Bowie in over a decade.[10] It also earned Bowie a nomination for Best Male Video at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards.[5]" → "According to Spitz, the video received heavy rotation on MTV, a first for Bowie in over a decade;[10] and also earned Bowie a nomination for Best Male Video at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards.[5]"
- Fine as is. Reads like a comma splice hidden by a semi-colon
- "The same year, Phillips opinioned that "The title is a picture-perfect distillation of what it means to live in this world."[26]" → "The same year, Lior Phillips of Consequence of Sound opinioned that "The title is a picture-perfect distillation of what it means to live in this world."[26]"

- Finished with prose comments. Realmaxxver (talk) 22:04, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
Image review
[edit]- Images are fine, I would suggest maybe a better image for Trent Reznor, maybe File:Trent Reznor with Nine Inch Nails -- California, 21 May 2009.jpg? (just remember to change the direction that the image is aligned to the left)
- Prefer this one. We already have a quote box on the left. – zmbro (talk) (cont) 02:28, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- Okay. Passing now. Realmaxxver (talk) 15:16, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
