Single Albums vs. Individual Tracks

[edit]

There was no distinction between the single albums IU has released (such as Spring of a Twenty Year Old) and the individual (single) tracks she has released. I added a section for these albums. I was unable to find any references to single albums from other musicians so I'm not sure if I did this correctly.

If you have an idea of a better format, please say so or make the changes yourself.

Please note that this information would have to be updated on this page, on her biographical page, and her template. Don't forget to update the artist discography infobox on this page. Michaelcomella (talk) 13:06, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed there are three distinctions:

I think this can be done in anyway – there seems to be no standard. Here are examples from other artists:

  • Wonder Girls: Single albums (both digital and physical) and promoted single releases displayed separately
  • Super Junior: Divide into single albums and digital single albums
  • Sunny Hill: Divide into single albums and digital singles
  • Korean IU discography: Only single albums (both digital and physical) are listed. Promoted tracks from an album are mentioned on the album description, ignoring the charting details.

As a (potentially) temporary solution, I will relabel "Single Albums" to "CD singles". An alternative may be Maxi single – it is difficult to understand the distinction. Michaelcomella (talk) 18:16, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've decided it's a problem not to make a distinction between individual songs (as singles) and CD singles. For example, if you don't make the distinction and IU did not promote songs from Spring of a Twenty Year Old, it would have no place on her discography page. This, in my opinion, is incorrect – any physical release is fairly significant and should be documented. As such, unless someone else would like to discuss it with me here (or even just other ways of organizing the info), I am going to keep the CD singles section.
