--- Whose Fools' Gold ? ---

[edit]

Article Lead reads:

"I Wanna Be Adored" is a single by English rock band The Stone Roses.
It was released as the third single from the band's debut album
The Stone Roses in the UK, US, Germany, Japan and Canada.
The US edition was released at the same time as "Fools Gold" in 1989
and charted at number 18 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart in 1990.[1]

This first paragraph of this WP article implies that "Fool's Gold " is a US "edition" of "I Wanna Be Adored".
But the one song is quite a different from the other.
Now, IDK why the US edition of "The Stone Roses" LP is different from the Euro/International releases ... But different it is.
So this begs for some understanding and analysis.
Is it difficult to see how the lyric anthem "I... dont need to sell my soul... He's already in me" would be problematic in the Reagan-era of the late 1980's? Neither non-xtian belief systems nor progressive life-styles were welcomed in USA-based corporate media. Ms. Al 'Tipper' Gore's motherly indignation provided political footing the more superstitious and their claims of "Heavy-Metal suicides" and the curses of "backwards masked" demons. Spineless recording industries bowed to minority demands for censorship and our ongoing "album stickering". IDK when or if the Stone Roses' international hit "I Wanna Be Adored" was *ever* released for the USA market. I could find it only on imports.

So this article lead seems to be at best a mistake. Regarding "I Wanna Be Adored" and "Fool's Gold " - by what evidence is the claim made that these two songs are musically related "edition" ? Hilarleo Hey,L.E.O. 02:39, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lacking any forthcoming references, I have removed mention of Fools Gold from the introduction to this article. phreakydancin (talk) 06:06, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
