Iain or Ian? Pronounciation?

The use of these spellings is divided about 50/50 in the sources I've looked at. I don't know which is right, so I have created a forward from "Ian".

Also, a question about his surname. How is it pronounced? Laffland? Lawland? Lachland? Lochland? I'm presuming it's either a variant of McLauchlan or of Lackland.--MacRusgail (talk) 16:34, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
