Question

[edit]

Is it true that "Impostor" sometimes is called "Enemy of the Earth"? --81.227.66.107 18:47, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe so. --81.227.65.13 16:09, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Impostor.jpg

[edit]

Image:Impostor.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Trilogy Question

[edit]

I would like to know what the other two films in the said trilogy were going to be? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.154.198.17 (talk) 14:01, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See the section called "Production", then your local library to find the referenced stories. Friendly Person (talk) 04:31, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you go to the Wiki page for Alien Love Triangle there is a link to an article by film critic Mark Kermode in which he says that it was the third of the films originally intended to be part of the trilogy - the others being Mimic and Impostor. Had I not come across that article, however, I would've thought The Last Question a much more likely candidate as there is a kind of consistency with the other two, being adaptations of sci-fi stories, which seems lacking in Alien Love Triangle. That's merely my impression, of course, and Mr Kermode should know what he's talking about, being a professional film critic. It's more than possible that there was a debate about which stories might be included in the trilogy and whether they should be original scripts or adaptations. So The Last Question might well have been considered at some stage and developed up to a point, but unless/until some source can be found to confirm that idea, the reference to The Last Question in the 'Production' section should be removed and replaced with Alien Love Triangle, citing the same newspaper article previously cited as the reason for the change. Production team and BSG

[edit]

Does anyone know if this film is related to the production of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica — perhaps as a rival production, or a test-bed for ideas? Apart from the obvious plot connection to the Cylons, there are the opening credits, which seem to use the BSG typeface. And the way the title goes red is uncannily like the titles for the latest BSG, Razor. – Kieran T (talk) 11:17, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spoilers

[edit]

The second paragraph of the Plot section, utterly spoils the whole ending, and thus the movie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.225.28.203 (talk) 17:24, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The plot descriptions of all of the movies detailed on Wikipedia do this. My understanding is that they are not supposed to be plot summaries like you'd read on the back of a movie case - summarizing the concept without giving away the ending - but actual plot synopses. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.22.63.200 (talk) 11:55, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plot Questions

[edit]

99.29.186.90 (talk) 20:41, 1 July 2010 (UTC) I saw the movie first & agree with its low rating here. I looked here for how the 'replicant' was ID'd & never discovered what 'transmission' led him to be suspected. The hero GS has a body scan done which would have told him if he was a 'replicant' but is stopped before being finished. Why didn't the cops do that? The 'fire' in the woods turns out to be the crashed space ship, and how did that go undiscovered until the hero thinks of it? And if it crashed then the 'crash' was a deliberate effort to destroy the bodies of the two originals, which fails, so how smart are these aliens? The only clue we get is a disc recording of GS tied to a chair raving about how the aliens will win. Where did that come from?[reply]

Friendly Person (talk) 05:58, 12 March 2013 (UTC) Wikipedia doesn't rate movies, but rather reports on ratings elsewhere. The Plot section could be improved perhaps. The "cops" didn't do that scan because it's special technology and they were more blunt - you can get that in Hathaway's interview with the Secretary. The fire was contained and its interior area and cause not fully investigated yet, as was mentioned on the news - government apparently had more pressing issues. The alien craft did not crash as "a deliberate attempt to destroy the bodies of the two originals", they were not aboard. It was not intended to land gracefully; just to crash land and deliver its two replicants. Also it served as a hiding place for the bodies of the originals. It's not explained, but presumably the replicants killed the originals then took their memories, erasing all their previous memories including the killings. GS was ranting to distract the workers so he could overpower them and escape. Now he sees that will be evidence against him. Finally, it might be that the film didn't cover all the bases 100%. Remember the original story came out in 1953, it must have been modernized quite a bit for the screen and there is always a limit on what can be done, but you can see here how $300K more spent on the script could have turned this movie into a winner.[reply]

Do implanted memories count as altered memories?

[edit]

In other words, ought we add this to Category:Films about altered memoriesallixpeeke (talk) 02:31, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
