I don't really think that creating links in the page to a Yahoo search for that term ("Mr. Texas" leather, for example) is particularly useful. Likewise, I don't really understand making links to currently non-existant Wikipedia entries (Mr. Leather Brig, Mr. Leather Australia). By all means, if you create a page for one of those contests, please DO link to it, but until then it just seems to point out "This doesn't have Wikipedia entries". I'm going to remove the links to the Yahoo searches and the redlinks, but thank you for the link to David Kloss's page at the Leather Archives and Museum. I'll just add that having reviewed the policy for red links on Wikipedia, my point with the removal of the links is that I don't think that any of the contests particularly needs a red link (to promote an article being written about it), at least no more than any other contest. And I certainly doubt one could justify making a link for EVERY contest. Bootdog 09:44, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Categories: BDSM

[edit]

At one time, this article was in Category:BDSM. I believe it was mistakenly removed. Considering that IML is attended by many BDSM enthusiasts for the purpose of engaging in BDSM activities, I'm going to add this article to Category:BDSM_organizations. Also, I have added a sentence to that effect that "that IML is attended by many BDSM enthusiasts for the purpose of engaging in BDSM activities." Hopefully, this will make the connection between BDSM and IML clearer. --Tiger MarcROAR! 06:47, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IML & bareback

[edit]

Citing the continuing increase of HIV/STD/AIDS infections within the gay community, the International Mr. Leather organization has announced that companies that promote barebacking are no longer welcome to sell their wares at its popular Leather Market.

"Too many in our community believe HIV/AIDS is curable or manageable," IML said in a letter. "Too few understand that HIV/AIDS infections dominate life. ... Several years ago when “Meth” was the scourge of our community, IML drew a line in the sand and raised awareness and used all our influence to try and stop this addictive madness. As is the case with HIV/AIDS, we believe it is our further obligation to do everything in our power to prevent future infections."

Chuck Renslow, co-founder of IML, added that even bareback performers would not be welcome in the marketplace. "If those guys are hanging out, then they're promoting," he said.

Bareback porn producer Owen Hawk challenged the assertion that condomless videos have any affect on HIV infection rates. "The fact of the matter is that if you are HIV negative and want to stay that way, you are not going to go to a sex party sponsored by Treasure Island Media and sit with your ass in air and a bottle of poppers," he argued. "You’re far more likely to get infected by trusting that guy on Manhunt who has negative in his status and swears that he was tested two weeks ago." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.26.21.197 (talk) 22:50, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey there can someone create another column on this page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Mr._Leather IML Year - then add a column IML Class then add 1 to 46 - including the covid years as 43 & 42

Source: IML Executive Facebook page 25th May 2020 "To honor this year, with great respect for the world's situation, we choose to not ignore 2020 and will put International Mr. Leather 42 and International Mr. Bootblack 28 in the books as "the year without winners". Instead, we move forward to the future and International Mr.Leather 43 and International Mr. Bootblack 29 when we can be together in May 2021. In Leather, IML Executive Committee"

IML Participant Nations Map

[edit]

Hello, could someone kindly add a world map with countries shaded if they have participated in IML at least once, per list of countries under Contestants header (26 as of now)?
