Dioumoulen vs. Dumoulin[edit]

The name is apparently of French origin so the original spelling would be Dumoulin and pronounced "dymulɛ̃". As he lived in Russia, this name was transliterated into cyrillic as Дюмулен and the Russian pronunciation would be somewhat like "diumulɛn". If you then re-transliterate this pronunciation into Latin spelling you get Dioumoulen. Now the question is what the best title for this article would be and this should be the most common name variant under which he is known. I would go for Hyppolite Dumoulin which has by far the most google hits but as not all of them may refer to him maybe someone more familiar with his biography should determine the appropriate spelling in this case. --Proofreader (talk) 13:43, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
