1 article or 2
[edit]I see in this article 2 diferents articles; 1 for submarine (like es:Submarino Peral), and other for Isaac Peral (like es:Isaac Peral ....--Takashi kurita (talk) 07:04, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Hidden origin.
[edit]It seems that because of his name, it is very likely that he was a Marrano. Marranos were Jews who pretended to convert to Catholicism during and after the Spanish Inquisition in order to survive. They then continued to practice Judaism in secret. To this day in Spain such family lines exist, so this is not surprising. Also it appears that disappointed with the response of the Spanish Navy establishment to his invention, he made his way to Berlin, where at the time there was a thriving Jewish community. He Died in Berlin. It would be interesting to know if he was given a Jewish burial. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.120.237.241 (talk) 21:45, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Hidden Origin
[edit]So, he must have been a Marrano? Please, spare us the usual Spanish-hating spin. If you look through Wikipedia, you find that NO ONE of note can possibly be Spanish! If they're not Catalan, then they're from Portugese origins, or Basque, or Jewish, or whatever. JUST PLEASE, NOT SPANISH, for Pete's sake!!! Give it a rest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.170.201.48 (talk) 00:57, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Created Peral Submarine Article. Tu Frustración
[edit]I have taken the technical side of this article and put it into a seperate article Peral Submarine - which was deserved given the big influence this design had - it was truly a milestone in sub development.
Hidden Origin, I understand your frustration but these days I just laugh. "Spaniard" is to Spain what "Briton" is to Britain. So, just as a Welshman, Scot and Englishman are Britons, a Catalan, Gallego, Andalusian, Castilian, (Spanish) Basque, Asturian, etc are equally, Spaniards - regardless of political opinions (there are plenty of Scots, Welsh and even English who do not want to be part of the UK of GB - without rendering the term "Briton" meaningless). Yet as all Spaniards have some Jewish ancestors, if you go back far enough (and have good enough records!), then all Spaniards are ipso facto Jews! So if a Spaniard achieves something - guess what - he's a Catalan, an Andalusian, a Navarese, a Jew or whatever - never, never a Spaniard!
Si, soy muy sarcastico - así el mundo me da mucha risa. Provocateur (talk)
