[edit]I hadn't heard of the transliteration that the anon put in, but Prunier states it as "Failaka al-Islamiya". Also, I don't remember much from my Arabic language classes but the current Arabic script الفيلق الإسلامي definitely has an "al" at the beginning. - BanyanTree
- I had noted the redirect you had made previously. Since Prunier is better than the Daily Star, I'll remove it and put Prunier's transcription. As for the Arabic term, the source is a bit weak, as I took it from this dictionary entry [1]. But the problem is neither put the "al-" at the beginning. BTW, could you tell me the page where the Prunier transliteration is, so I can add it to the footnotes?--Aldux 14:16, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Should we take out the ال or add the "al"? I would support the latter, as I think it would be very weird in Arabic grammar to remove it. Subsequent references in English can drop the "al-", as seems to be normal practice. Ah... fun with transliteration. ;) The Prunier page is 45. Cheers, BanyanTree 14:45, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Paraphrasing
[edit]I'm reinstating my objection (since it was never addressed) to the paragraphing of a work that qualifies the Islamic Legion as if it is Wikipedia's opinion. Do we really know that it was a "militantly racist" unit? If so, why? Shouldn't we make it clear that it is the source that is the describing the Legion in this manner? 163.1.167.209 (talk) 03:59, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
