THC-Octyl, not THC-JD[edit]

It seems this article was created by marketers who claim to sell the product considering the first link.

They are also editing across Wikipedia to add the marketing name of THC-JD which was never used in any context beyond marketing by a specific entity, instead of THC-Octyl.

Wikipedia is not a playground to manipulate the public so you can market your companies product.

Thank you for your improvement. I did __not__ try to push THCjd as a marketing term. I just googled it and used the source. I'm happy if this article is kept as a synthetic (instead of a phytocannabinoid so I removed it from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Comparison_of_phytocannabinoids&diff=1110662083&oldid=1110559758) under a different name than THDjd (eg THCO). --Bawanio (talk) 18:16, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bawanito my apologizes if I came off as hostile or accusationary but lately there have been a group of people editing and making cannabinoid wikis that have financial ties to companies that sell them, sometimes even using their company name as their wiki username and they still get away with it.

There is no reputable source that would use the term THC-JD, anyplace that mentions it going to be a marketing blog style article or something linked to a store pushing it and according to analysis so far the claimed THC-JD product is noid soup without any THC-Octyl detected but I would be willing to bet when the marketers see this article they will try to add it back.

THC-Octyl is naturally occuring at least according to 1 study but another user seemed to have challenged the pages creation because of it feeling 1 study wasn't enough. Gettinglit (talk) 13:59, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Important review hidden behind paywall[edit]

This review might contain important information about JWH-138. it does not seem to be free. It has the 'JWH-138' and 'Δ8-THCjd' tags. is the 'THCjd' name solidifying in formal literature? Ashleighhhhh (talk) 01:47, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The term "THC-JD" is a made up name by a single company that sells bulk to other companies to put into products. Product has never been shown to contain D8-THC-Octyl or D9-THC-Octyl. Additionally, the study cited just claims it has been marketed as online, there is no lab analysis of product to confirm any THC-Octyl.

Although AM-2201 has been detected in various synthetic cannabinoid brands[1] it would be improper to edit the name of AM-2201 with the marketing brand names of "Mr Nice Guy" or "Purple Dragon" or "The Good Stuff" or "K4" and so on.

If we follow into marketers there will be no end to it, at that point anyone can make up a name for marketing a product like "THC-420X1" and claim it's THC-Octyl even if it's not proven, slap it on a product, and then edit the wiki article here of THC-Octyl to include it as if it's some sort of formal nickname but it's not, it's an irrelevant marketing name to boost sales and Wikipedia shouldn't become a marketing platform. This substance has a well known and specific nickname, THC-Octyl. The only relevance adding this in is to boost sales for a company making product that might not even contain any THC-Octyl or possibly something else.
