I am going over this entire list, film by film, to check for accuracy and need for inclusion. I am following the principles in WP:Source list and making sure every film is verifiable and that there is no original research. The main two sources I am using are the National Film Center database of their holdings (here) and the Japanese Cinema Database created by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. (It seems much of the list was created using the IMDb which is not a reliable source (WP:CITEIMDB).) Beyond checking the title and staff/cast information, when possible, I am adding the release date and studio, and whether the film is in the NFC collection. (It is likely that films that are not in the NFC collection, with a few exceptions, are lost films.) Given the need for verifiablity, as well as the fact lists should have selection criteria (WP:CSC), I am also eliminating entries for which there are ambiguities (as to which film it refers to) or questionable notability. In judging notability, I am privileging films in the NFC collection (since being "selected for preservation in a national archive" is a factor in judging notability (WP:NF)), as well as feature films released by major studios, with notable personnel, or which are commonly discussed in Japanese film histories. In other words, I am keeping films that reasonably could become the subject of stand-alone articles that pass WP:NF. I will be going through this bit by bit as I have time, so I welcome others to join in on this project. Michitaro (talk) 21:39, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
