Title

[edit]

The title of this article is incorrect: it should read: Jelly Roll Morton: The Complete Library of Congress Recordings. However it is listed as The Complete Library of Congress Recordings on Amazon as here.Mballen (talk) 05:08, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Rounder Records (who released the box set) refer to it as The Complete Library of Congress Recordings on their website. It does say "Jelly Roll Morton" on the front cover, but that's not any different from most other albums (i.e., displaying the name of the performing artist on the front cover). On the other hand, the text on the cover says The Complete Library of Congress Recordings by Alan Lomax; similarly, a single CD representing the "highlights" of the set is called The Library of Congress Recordings by Alan Lomax. But I don't see anyone (Rounder, allmusic, etc.) really using the longer title. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:57, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Titles are not copyrighted so it doesn't matter if other albums have the same title. Also there is a lot of leeway in Wikipedia's use of titles. It seems to me that the title is as present far too general to be encyclopedic and should be corrected though I am not sure how to do that. It doesn't matter a whit, BTW what Rounder Records (now defunct) says or said on its website. Mballen (talk) 00:39, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
