creative commons image of Coker to add to bio?

[edit]

We should add a nice pic of Jerry. Something like the cover of "Elements of the Jazz Language for the Developing Improvisor" looks like him and looks nice. Is there is a creative-commons or public domain image we can upload legally? Em3rgent0rdr (talk) 22:50, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ah, well looks like user ‎Cavarrone added File:Jerry-coker-nonfree.jpg which they noted is nonfree but may be fair use. But I guess if anyone finds a good public domain or creative commons picture to upload, that would be appreciated. Em3rgent0rdr (talk) 02:10, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Exact timeline of teaching?

[edit]

UMiami's obituary https://news.miami.edu/frost/stories/2024/01/jerry-coker.html says "Coker left the University of Miami in 1974, going on to found and direct the jazz program at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he worked until 1999." But this article currently says "He taught at Duke University, University of Miami, North Texas State University, and started the Studio Music and Jazz program at the University of Tennessee, where he was a professor of music from the 1980s through the 2000s". So when was the North Texas part...maybe was that a brief thing or in addition to or on the side or something? And it seems that 2000s might just be 1999 specifically (unless maybe if he was brought in on occasion maybe there is a way to say that).

Also, https://www.facebook.com/FrostSchoolUM/posts/pfbid0ESPwnpd29LQmK9qM7uvhK8XVx2MfavN1QakjSEraAv5qUNHvqrcgrebC4d6JUxa6l says "He founded the Music Studio & Jazz program at Frost School of Music, one of the first jazz degree programs in the United States." But this article says he did that in Tennessee. So sounds like he found that program in both schools?

Maybe someone can clear it up exact timeline. Em3rgent0rdr (talk) 03:22, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
