"Mistake" in the Runner-ups

[edit]

"* –not listed on ATP Website by mistake,Final matches were left unfinished and both players received the Runner-Up prize."

I'm not sure it is correct to call this "mistake". Runner-up implies a lost final (including withdrawals and retirements), not one that was left unfinished for some reason. The three finals marked with "*" should be separated from the rest. Anyone agrees to that? Waldstein1981 (talk) 14:59, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should adandoned finals be regarded as Tournament wins or runner-up? Need consistency here.

[edit]

I have a question. Why has the ATP site - recently changed Connors titles total from 109 to 110 titles? (and the same change been done here at Wikipedia?)

They did this by adding the rained out 1976 Nottingham final. At the same time they didn't include the abandoned 1981 Monte Carlo or the adandoned 1984 Rotterdam titles in his tally. Why is this? It seems really inconsistent. Either include all the abandoned finals as tournament wins - or none of them as tournament wins - not just some. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tmartin prof (talkcontribs) 22:08, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of content - Connors runner up key

[edit]

There is a key above Connors runner-up totals. It states for clarity:

3 unfinished or canceled and 52 lost.
Finals unfinished or canceled
1976 14–20 June Nottingham John Player Ilie Năstase 6–2, 4–6, 1–1
1981 13–20 April Monte-Carlo Volvo Open (Monaco) Guillermo Vilas 5–5
1984 12–18 march Rotterdam ABN World Tennis Ivan Lendl 0–6, 0–1
**Four-men invitational tournament not bringing ATP-ranking points, but so-called "Pepsi Grand Slam" is included in ATP statistics in the titles and runner-up listings (it was an ITF tournament)

Severl anon IP's have been removing this info without discussion and I have been adding it back. Now, the scores and events that were canceled are in the table so they have a point that we don't need them a second time at the top. The **pepsi challenge key is important though. After attempting to explain the Ip's need to bring it to the talk page I gave in and changed it to:

† Of the 55 runner-ups, three were unfinished or canceled.
** Four-men invitational tournament not bringing ATP-ranking points, but the "Pepsi Grand Slam" is included in ATP statistics in the titles and runner-up listings (it was an ITF tournament)

That was also reverted. There may be a compromise in here somewhere but others opinions would be welcome. Fyunck(click) (talk) 06:05, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
