Why "web"?

[edit]

I learned about Jinja in home assistant. It is used there as a template engine. Yes it is a template engine, but not only a web template engine. --85.212.165.76 (talk) 09:49, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So where would you use it that wasn't 'web'? I agree that it could be used for other things, but when do I need 'other things'? Years ago, I used to write Windows desktop apps. I haven't written one of those in ages, I'd write HTML these days and access it via a browser, even if it was all on the same desktop machine. Andy Dingley (talk) 10:02, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
One can use Jinja for LaTeX templates, CSV, and XML too. There is nothing restricting it to just be a "web templating engine". Wikiforra (talk) 12:16, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
