Proposed merge with Captree State Park
[edit]The following discussion is closed and will soon be archived:
Do not think is notable or has enough information to be own article. RES2773 (talk) 02:53, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose. Per WP:NGEO, "Places with protected status (e.g. protected areas, national heritage sites, cultural heritage sites) and named natural features, with verifiable information beyond simple statistics are presumed to be notable."
- I have attempted a quick cleanup and slight expansion of the article, based on a few quick searches, perhaps more to come. Visitation of this park is greater than one million people each year; each could potentially be served by a non-biased wiki article, since most currently-available information on the web is heavily advertorial in nature (i.e., promoting individual charter boats). The choice to merge into 'Jones Beach Island' is completely arbitrary; why not merge to the county, or Long Island, or either of the towns it occurs in? The island is not defined by this park, nor is this park defined by the island. Makes more sense to maintain a separate article, which also encourages future expansion. For the record, I have never visited this park, and in fact have no interest in ever visiting LI, so personal attachment is not an issue here. Antepenultimate (talk) 04:00, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose, per previous comment. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 10:43, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose – Strongly notable. Closing discussion. MB298 (talk) 01:06, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
