Flughafen Königsberg[edit]

One of the first air lines provided by the Deutsche Lufthansa was the Berlin - Danzig - Königsberg - Kaunas - Riga - Tallinn - Helsinki route. In summer 1939 Lufthansa flew this route on weekdays. No service on Sundays. Berlin 07.20 Danzig 09.20 - 09.35 Königsberg 10.20 - 10.45 Kaunas 11.50 - 12.10 Riga 14.20 - 14.40 Tallinn 16.10 - 16.30 Helsinki 17.40. Helsinki 09.05 Tallinn 09.45 - 10.00 Riga 11.30 - 11.50 Kaunas 12.00 - 12.20 Königsberg 13.35 - 14.00 Berlin 16.50. This service was operated after 30.11.1939 only to Tallinn. In August 1940, when Soviet Union occupied the Baltic states the service was cancelled. It was reintroduced by Deutsche Lufthansa again to Helsinki in August 1941 and was operated to 05.09.1944. Unoffically to 14.09.1944. The Finnish "Suomen Kulkuneuvot" autumn 1943 (01.10 - 31.12) edition reports on page 57 "Scheduled air traffic is operated from Finland to Berlin via Riga, Königsberg, and Danzig. Closer information available by phone AERO Oy 61441 Helsinki." This route carried much more passengers with Junkers aircrafts than Berlin - Köningberg - Riga - Moscow route. Usually there were even overbookings in 1930´s to Berlin flights. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.112.88.122 (talk) 06:50, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
