Gratuitous feedback[edit]

  • The earliest known use of the title comes from a Maya stelae - shouldn't that be "stela"? Also would look better as "Mayan" (adjective) I think.....Casliber (talk · contribs) 05:53, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are alot of Kan Ek names in the History section....
  • Thanks for looking at this... The "stelae" is a typo, but "Mayan" is more correctly used of languages while "Maya" is used as an adjective to describe everything else - see for example Sharer and Traxler 2006, in "A note on names, orthography and pronunciation" on p.xxxiii: ...the term "Maya" is used as a noun to refer to the Maya people, ancient and modern, and as an adjective, as in "Maya books,", "Maya pottery," or "Maya writing." When referring to languages, however, it is customary to use the term "Mayan," as in "the Mayan languages. - this is pretty much standard usage in the academic press. • I've just re-read the History section intro and it was a bit jarring with the repeat use of the name. I've cut a couple of instances. Simon Burchell (talk) 09:06, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
