BLP sources

[edit]

@Link20XX: removed a {{BLP sources}} tag and various inline tags that I added to this article, noting, "See WP:BLPPRIMARY and WP:ABOUTSELF. Primary sources are just fine as sources."

That is not quite what the linked sections say, though. What they actually say is, "Exercise extreme caution in using primary sources." and "Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, [... so long as...] 5. the article is not based primarily on such sources."

Specific, presumed non-controversial details such as the artist's date and place of birth can be cited to the artist's own social media (but birthday greetings from other Twitter users are still not acceptable). But the article needs to cite non-primary sources that are not self-published in order to establish notability and to verify any potentially controversial information. (To be fair, I don't see any controversial information in this article, though.) Currently four of the six sources cited are self-published and/or user generated. Since Khoi Dao has apparently worked on a number of well-known films, secondary sources are probably available, and should be cited. Happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 23:37, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree the Twitter source should be removed, however, the way you worded the maintenance tag reason made it sound like these are never appropriate, which is plain and simply wrong. While the article does have a lot of primary sources, I don't believe that is what it most depends on. The two non-primary sources (specifically the Behind The Voice Actors source) are used almost as much as the primary ones when it comes to verifying the information. Additionally, I feel you vastly WP:OVERTAGed the article, as you shouldn't tag every source and the article too. Additionally, The Outerhaven is not a user-generated source, so I don't see why you tagged it as a user-generated source. Link20XX (talk) 23:57, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
