The links to Murjel Hermios and Remios Hermios get redirected back here. If they don't deserve their own pages, they shouldn't be links here.

I have seen a reference to these being the "recognized Iroijlaplap (king or paramount chief) and owner of the Northern Atolls of the Marshall Islands', Ratak Chain" - what was their status - who recognised them ?

Both recognized by the Republic of the Marshall Islands as Iroijlaplaps. The RMI constitution allows for Hermios' status to continue. Their Iroijlaplap title is inherited which includes land rights. It would be nice to see some of this in the Iroijlaplap page. Harvardy 19:42, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Quatloos article only features one side of the argument. The main source it cites, an article in a Marshall Islands daily, later ran a response letter from EninKio that critized the daily's piece. Yet the article does not mention it. Also, the Quat piece is factually in error about EninKio leadership and seems to argue that since their attorney rep is shady looking, then EninKio must be shady too. Pretty shaky ground to lay a claim of fraud, IMO! EninKio's claims to the island appear to have at least some merit to them; irrespective, I added the section about their claims into this Wiki article. CyberAnth 05:08, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While researching material for the Bokak Atoll entry, I came across this scam. If taking material on the EnenKio site at face value, it seems Mr. Robert Moore broadly utilized the Polynesian concept of adoption to: 1) become a brother to the Iroijlaplap, 2) have his "brother" appoint him as an alab (a sub-chief), 3) create a trust for his "brother", and via this trust 4) lease Bokak (Taongi) Atoll to the DoM, 5) create a specious claim to Wake Island. Result: Profit.

Traditionally, the Iroijlaplap personally owned the uninhabited atolls of Bokak, Bikar, and Toke, and could dispose of them as he saw fit. However, a literal disposal via deed to another sovereign entity was *not* traditional, as evidenced by the protests of previous Iroijlaplaps when the German, Japanese, and American governments took or considering taking Bokak as government property[1]. Today, the Iroijlablab probably still has the right to lease the atoll, but I seriously doubt the RMI government would allow him to cut it loose.Cmholm (talk) 00:59, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kingdom?[edit]

If this is called a kingdom, when the kingdom was founded? Only dates on the article are concerning the .org website from 2011. Is it meant to have been founded in "ancient" times, since that is mentioned few times? 82.141.124.221 (talk) 05:48, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

German Wikipedia has Das Königreich EnenKio wurde angeblich 1994 von dem Häuptling Murjel Hermios ausgerufen.
Meaning sonething like "The Kingdom EnenKio was allegedly proclaimed in 1994 by the chief Murjel Hermios.", I think. There are two sources but is not clear if they point just that sentence. Neither of those sources is in the internet.
Though Spanish wiki has El Reino de EnenKio (estado ficticio) fue proclamado en 1987, con Murjel Hermios como primer monarca y a su muerte en diciembre de 1998, con su hermano Remios Hermios como segundo rey.
Meaning "The Kingdom of EnenKio (fictional state) was proclaimed in 1987, as Murjel Hermios first monarch and his death in December 1998 with his brother Remios Hermios as the second king.", though no sources, only external link enenkio.org. 82.141.124.221 (talk) 06:21, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect?[edit]

After an extensive ce to remove the cruft and get everything back to reflecting what RS say, the article is pretty small. Into statement, 2nd para on legitimate claim by Marshalls, 3rd para on KoE, and the Marshalls quote. The KoE information is replicated in the territorial claim subsection of the Wake article, with the only omissions being the quote, which is instead summarised in the text, and the mention of DoM, which could easily be added to the Wake article.

Given the footfall I was going to go ahead with blanking this page and redirecting to the Wake subsection, but it's probably best to pop a notice in here first. Any arguments against? Bromley86 (talk) 19:27, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
