Former East Berlin Symphony Orchestra[edit]

Was this orchestra the former East Berlin Symphony Orchestra? The Kurt Sanderling page makes it seem so. Badagnani 23:56, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was. Angr/talk 07:16, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

English name[edit]

Shouldn't this be at Berlin Symphony Orchestra?-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  18:30, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They changed their name. I think that's stated in the article's text...? Badagnani 18:58, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The English version of their official site shows that the name of the orchestra used since the name change in 2006 is the German name. So there is no English name for this orchestra, as they use the German name when writing about it in English. Badagnani 18:59, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That they don't have an official English name doesn't mean that others don't have an English name for them. English webpages from last year give 203 hits for "Konzerthausorchester Berlin", and 889,000 for "Berlin Symphony Orchestra". I think a move is in order.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  19:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. This is the new name. The name you recommend was used before the name change in 2006. We redirect from that name so people looking for information about the old name will end up here. Badagnani 19:11, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Badagnani. Google hits are irrelevant; their name is Konzerthausorchester Berlin, and it has no English equivalent, so we use the German name. —Angr 20:19, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
