[edit]Who is this guy and when did he reign? The list and successor thing seems to suggest an 18th century ruler, but of course an 18th century ruler could not have received the GCSI or GBE. So what's going on? john k (talk) 22:28, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- He was the ruler of Kingdom of Mysore in southern India, between the years 1734 and 1766.
- I have updated the article and the infobox in it, with this information. Thank you - KNM Talk 22:57, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- But that was before British rule, which is not what the article says. Also, as noted, not only would an Indian ruler in the 18th century not have received British orders of chivalry, the particular ones listed for him did not exist until much later. Was this article written about a much later ruler with the same name? john k (talk) 00:33, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
John is right. The writer seems to have mistaken the titles of Krishna Raja Wodeyar IV and II . Though the period of reign is right, there is no question of he receiving any title from British at that time. It is also wrong to describe him as a celebrated Ruler much less as under British Rule. Much part of his reign was during his minority when Dalvoy brothers Karachuri Nanajarajiah (later His father in law) and Devarajiah had complete sway over the affairs of the Kingdom. Later Hyder became defacto ruler reducing the King to a nominal one.It was left to his third wife Rani Lakshammanni to wage a war against the usurpers Hyder and Tipu thro' her secret parleys with British and eventually succeed in her mission in 1799 when her Great grand son Krishna Raja Wodeyar III was anointed as the King. Even at this time it was still East India Company which was running the affairs in India. Rajachandra (talk) 19:56, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
