Fecal coliform testing of the western half of the lake for 3 years (2008-10) at 20 sites has shown that in over 90% of the tests that the level is about 25% of the limit, that is 50-60 colonies in a 100 ml sampled versus the 240 (Mex)/200 (USA) standards. Thus, from the point of "full body immersion" recreation these water are considered very good. Those areas where tests results exceeded the limit were related to poorly operating waste water plant. The impact from such plants can extend about 1 km into the lake.

Total mercury testing (Oct/Dec 2010) of 250 carp fish from 25 sites about the lake has shown a mean value of 0.39 PPM versus a limit of 1.00 (median = 0.35).TDSTONG (talk) 12:33, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
