Copyvio

Not only was the "Chronology" material lifted, in reverse order, from another site, but it doesn't even appear to be Larry SIlver's site but rather Bruce Silverstein's. --Tenebrae (talk) 01:30, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Someone who only has four or five edits, all to this article in the last two days, removed the copyvio tag with an unproven assertion. The tag says: "Do not restore or edit the blanked content on this page until the issue is resolved by an administrator, copyright clerk or OTRS agent." There is no indication either on this talk page or in the article's history to support User:Jweisenb's claim. Cool. One question, though: Is the place that sells his art the most objective source of biographical information? It seems a source that reeks of conflict of interest. For example, when any claim is made of someone winning an award, isn't the usual and best source for that the awarding entity itself. With actor articles mentioning Emmy Awards, for example, we site the entry in the Emmy database. Secondly, having a year-by-year chronology of whatever the salesman wants to tell us is not the general prose format. Permission or not, should we even be using the artist's sales agent as virtually the sole source for the biographical claims? --Tenebrae (talk) 15:56, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, I thought we preferred no content at all to unreliable content? Anyway, I did a bit of rewriting. I've tagged this page for the self-evident COI of Jweisenb: do others agree that BSG2420 also has a definite conflict of interest here? Ah, man! I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Anyway, I thank you for your efforts. Though Larry Silver certainly appears to be an eminent photographer, if all we can find about him is stuff from his family/gallery, that would seem a red flag.
