Other Pelty roles

[edit]

In 1973, I got to see a dinner-theater in-the-round presentation of the musical 1776 wherein Lee Pelty portrayed John Adams.

As he was the most accomplished actor in the company, it was natural that he'd have played this, the most important role. However, he was a rather lanky fellow, and in fact taller than the actor who played Thomas Jefferson. I was concerned about the scene wherein the Adams commands Jefferson to write the Declaration, and that he will use "physical force if necessary." Of course, the irony is lost when Jefferson doesn't tower over Adams. But, as I recall, they got through the scene without any mishap.

When my mother was at the theater, buying our tickets for 1776, she noted this gentleman making scary faces at himself in a reflective glass. He was embarassed, introduced himself and explained. This was Lee Pelty, doing a bit of rehersal for his role as Fagin in the (announced) next production, Oliver!

Someone may want to add those roles to his credits. WHPratt (talk) 15:55, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

PROD

[edit]

This is an actor of very marginal notability. I think the existence of this article should be resolved at WP:AFD. Here are some marginal sources that I have found:

I could see an AFD going either way, but think full consideration should be given.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 13:52, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
