Fair use rationale for Image:PLflag.gif

[edit]

Image:PLflag.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May 2006 and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:09, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Suggestion?

[edit]

A suggestion? As the French do not hyphenate 'Les Sables d'Olonne' (check their website and learn a bit of French so you understand what the name means) maybe you shouldn't either? Also I noticed some pinhead went in and redacted the French page too? Really.

.Well, I can’t find anything on the external link about the meaning of the name; Doesn’t it just mean “the sands of Olonne”? And isn’t Olonne just the name of the area ? It re-occurs in several place-names thereabouts. And I can’t find any “pinhead” who moved the page on the French WP to a hyphenated name; it was like that from the start. So what’s the issue? Swanny18 12:13, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The issue, PINHEAD, is that if you see how the Frenchies themselves spell their city name - by going to the OFFICIAL site for the OFFICE OF TOURISM:
http://www.ot-lessablesdolonne.fr/
You will see that they do not hyphenate their name. Yet another example of how Weakypedia rewrite history to their own liking. And yes, the above first comment is correct: some PINHEAD is also responsible for doing this to the French Weakypedia page too.
The name is:
Les Sables d'Olonne
And this can be found on any number of French sites connected with the city.
So let's see. The original comment was from October 2007; the reply was two months later; and the replier had no clue what this was about despite it being there in black and white; and now it's a year later and Weakypedia still haven't fixed it.
"Par for the course. For Weakypedia. Of course."
Here's another website Mr Clueless can visit to help him understand this obscure issue.
http://www.lessablesdolonne.com/
That site is registered to a "Jeana Développement" company and their address is given as - hold on, get ready:
23 Rue Abbé Marceau
85100 les sables d'olonne
No hyphen. PINHEAD. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.227.114.140 (talk) 18:18, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
See comments on your talk page regarding civility
As for the spelling, to repeat: If you object to the page name being hyphenated, then feel free to change it, with an explanation; it’s no big deal.
But I would point out, though; this is the English language WP and the English language spelling [1] does have a hyphen, so it isn’t wrong as it is.
I’ve put a note in the header to clarify this. Swanny18 (talk) 14:52, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
