This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Leslie Dick is recognized as an accomplished artist and writer. If she has less press than other artists, it is a result of the gender gap in art criticism, and does not reflect a lack of notability. She has been active as an international artist for the past twenty years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tadiehl (talk • contribs) 15:49, October 8, 2014
@Gobonobo: I miscounted. I wasn't sure how to verify birth dates but thought maybe not having that on there was encouraging her article to be deleted, and I am confident her notability warrants her one. So, I counted back from a source (Yale bio) that said she graduated in 1977 -- I thought it was an undergrad program. And I was in the process of looking for a copy of her novel so I could verify off the author bio therein which I remember reading a while back. I think I jumped the gun out of fear for the attempted stub being deleted? Doesn't sound like a wise judgement in my re-telling. However, you are right, her birth year is 1954.Cosmicphantom (talk) 01:14, 9 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing that. I think the speedy deletions were probably unwarranted, but there's a possibility this article could still be brought to AfD. Kudos to Tadiehl for a great start here and good referencing. I tried to look for further references, but didn't find too much more. I started an article for X-TRA Contemporary Art Quarterly though. gobonobo+c02:14, 9 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
