Swanky Kong Article

I noticed when I went to the Swanky Kong section of this article and clicked on "Main Article: Swanky Kong" I was still here. Has there ever been a Swanky Kong Article before? If there has someone has deleted it. If not, can someone make one please? --Coconutfred73 22:52, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Some idiot made these articles redirect to List of Donkey Kong Characters. ChunkyKong12345 00:20, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

You do realize that calling people "idiots" solely because they disagree with you is very against the rules, correct? - A Link to the Past (talk) 22:42, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

If the Donkey Kong-related character did not make enough appearances in the history of video games, they should be merged into this article. The only articles that you should leave be are the ones by which a character made enough appearances in the history of video games, such as Dixie Kong. --PJ Pete

Inclusion of Banjo and Conker

I've created several sections for various characters who appear in Diddy Kong Racing, but I'm unsure whether or not a section on both Conker and Banjo should be created. This may also bring into question whether or not other characters such as Mario, Tiptup or Bubbles (who is a secret character in DK: King of Swing) should also be included on the list. -- Lord Crayak —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lord Crayak (talkcontribs) 09:40, 29 December 2006And I am an idiot with no future and am a emo person and has emo parents.King K.Rool FTW!!!!!!!!!!

I say leave Conker and Banjo out. They were Rare's characters, and since then, Rare has been sold to Microsoft. -Vance Finiraldi 21:39, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, after Conker's Bad Fur Day, the Conker franchise became abandoned before Rare was sold to Microsoft, although there was an XBox remake of that game, called Conker: Live & Reloaded, and that was it. --PJ Pete

Stanley the Bugman

What the heck happened to the Stanley subsection? Not that I'm complaining since he's such a minor character, but now that is strictly a post-Donkey Kong Country character list and does not contain old-school characters. Jonny2x4 19:45, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Tiny Kong's Age

Tiny Kong's older than Dixie Kong? It wouldn't make sense at all. Just because Tiny Kong is now taller than Dixie Kong, she's still younger. --PJ Pete

Tiny's always been Dixie's younger sister, she's just a little taller now. 58.170.12.30 05:17, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Wait, what game is Baby Kong from?

I haven't been following closely on Donkey Kong spinoffs like Donkey Konga... Or is he from the cartoons? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.101.145.224 (talk) 20:02, 14 April 2007 (UTC).

I wondering this too. I don't think Baby Kong exists. I think it's Vandalism. Besides DK Jr. = DK. Not Dk Jr. = DK's Son.

Angry Sun 20:11, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Baby Kong is from the Donkey Kong Country Cartoon. --Coconutfred73 22:33, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

I thought so. Angry Sun 22:43, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Diddy Kong Racing-only characters

Characters that only appeared in Diddy Kong Racing or Diddy Kong Racing DS and no other games are the characters that became ditched and are no longer being used: eg. Pipsy, Bumper, Drumstick. --PJ Pete

This article needs more pictures

Should I upload some? --Coconutfred73 20:08, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Could someone please add pictures of every donkey kong character in 3D? There used to be really good ones including donkey kong junior in his white little jumper, and there were some of all the animal buddies. It would be extremely helpful. There also used to be a 3D picture of candy, baby, and wrinkly kong. Please someone fix the donkey kong section.

This list isn't for pictures really.

Besides when the articles got removed. The pictures got lost. Also just a reminder. DK Jr = DK. Angry Sun 15:20, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Candy Kong's designs

In the later Donkey Kong games, there has been a design controversy over Candy Kong, in which in Donkey Kong 64 and DK: King of Swing she showed more of her body than in the original Donkey Kong Country where she was the most recognizable in that appearance. --PJ Pete

Design controversy? I think that during the 64 years Rare was just trying to prove that they're games aren't just for little kids. Most of their characters got redisgned look at Berri! And look at all the refrences in Banjo Kazooie 2. Paon probably just wanted to continue with the trend of making her "sexy" 58.170.12.30 05:19, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Tiny Kong article

The Tiny Kong information should only be in this article under her headline. So anyone, stop re-creating the Tiny Kong article, or it will be merged back into this article, or perhaps re-merged. --PJ Pete

Tick Tock?

"Contrary to popular assumption "T.T." stands for "Tick Tock", not "Time Trials". In the Nintendo 64 version of the game, the narrator says his name as "Tick Tock!"." When was this? I'm 99% positive no narrator ever spoke the character's names in the N64 version. 142.59.172.187 09:43, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Agreed, I am also sure it isn't said at all during the game. It probably stands for both, which was why it was shortened to T.T., but that's my own speculation. It should be removed. (Fryguy64 10:01, 9 June 2007 (UTC))

Merge Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr.?

Rare has stated before that DK and DK Jr. are the same character and that it's a mistake in the DKC manual that Cranky is DK's grandfather (he's his father). Should DK and DK Jr. be merged so the DK section adds 'also known as Donkey Kong Jr.'? Also, should Cranky Kong's section say 'also known as Donkey Kong'? (I'll cite a source later.)194.78.37.122 13:41, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Edit: Here's a source http://web.archive.org/web/20020805184158/rareware.com/the_site/talk_to_us/scribes/aug25_99/aug25_99.html 194.78.37.122 13:44, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Maybe. The article should really reflect the fact that there are two entirely separate "canons" for Donkey Kong: it might be true that DK is the same character as DK Jr. in the DKC/DKR universe (i.e. the Rareware DK series), but not in the Mario universe (i.e. Nintendo's games).
"Donkey Kong" is the only character name the two series have in common, and it may be more accurate and informative to state that the character called "Donkey Kong" in the DKC/DKR canon is "Donkey Kong Jr." in the Mario canon (and, similarly, that DKC's "Cranky Kong" is Mario's "Donkey Kong"). 217.155.20.163 20:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Sentence about Rare owning characters

I've changed part of the opening paragraph around to remove some ambiguity.

The original version might have been taken to suggest that Rare owns the rights to all of the "Kongs" except for Diddy, Dixie and Tiny, which clearly isn't the case (Nintendo owns the rights to all of them), and wasn't what was said on the referenced web page. 217.155.20.163 20:38, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Tiny Kong's flower pattern

It should be mentioned in this article that the flower pattern on the front of Tiny Kong's overalls in Donkey Kong 64 and on her top in the spin-offs is like a reference to Princess Daisy, although Candy and Dixie are more of a reference to Princess Peach, because those two Kong females in pink are more feminine than Tiny Kong. --PJ Pete

Have you got any sources saying that Rare made this characters to resemble the Mario princesses?58.170.12.30 05:22, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Chunky race

Merge

None of those characters really assert any notability, and they would be better covered within this list. Please do not mention anything about being included in games or size issues because they are irrelevant. TTN (talk) 22:23, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

I don't think "irrelevant" brings good faith in this encyclopedia. Plus, I'm not likin' your attitude about how opinions don't matter and that YOU always decide consensus (*cough*MEGAMAN*cough*) But anyway, judging from what I'm seeing from the articles, I support the merge all the way. Unless they are improved, there's no point in keeping them seperate. The list is the way to the go for now.ZeroGiga (Contact) 22:23, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

I'd say Diddy Kong deserves his own page, he's starred in his own games, and is fairly well known. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.143.86.178 (talk) 06:30, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I think diddy kong should get his own page. RC-0722 communicator/kills 18:33, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
But the others should be merged into this one. RC-0722 communicator/kills 18:36, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't think thats a good idea, I mean, those are the most popular characters from Donkey Kong series. I think Dixie should stay with her own article.201.163.43.49 (talk) 23:15, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Not really, as she isn't really that recognizable and she really hasn't done anything even semi-big. Diddy kong should, as he starred in his own game, but I don't think dixie should. RC-0722 communicator/kills 23:57, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Maybe Cranky and King K. Rool, but Dixie no, I mean she starred two games.201.163.43.49 (talk) 05:00, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Dixie Kong also appeared in a few Mario multiplayer titles (specifically Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Hoops), but Donkey (and Diddy recently) have been appearing in them way more often than her. — NES Boy (talk) 01:36, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Dixie deserves her own article. She's the third main character and the leading female of the entire DK series. Plus her appearance in games has increased much in recent years. I don't understand why we're even discussing getting rid of DK material, when Star Wars has so much wasted space on Wikipedia. I'mean, characters like Kit Fisto getting their own article is just stupid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WeeklyJumpman (talkcontribs) 20:33, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I agree, Diddy and Dixie deserve their article. Javier12345 (talk) 21:44, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
KIng K. Rool (I notice a merge tag on his article) should stay as a seperate article. He's the main antagonist in most of the DK games and would be like wanting to merge Bowser or Ganon into a list of characters article. TJ Spyke 11:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Agreed with TJ Spike. I would vote (even though there isn't one yet) for a no merge on King K. Rool. --Antoshi~! T | C 08:58, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
So was there actually consensus to merge Tiny into the main list? I'm neutral on account of having not played any Donkey Kong games since DK64, but I noticed a merge without discussion took place and thought I'd bring it up. As far as the others, I'd say NoMerge on Diddy and K-Rool, neutral on Dixie, and yes merge on everything else. McJeff (talk) 02:37, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Request to partially merge the deleted Kremling article here.

There was a deleted article called Kremlings. It was mostly a list of every type of Kremling enemy encountered in the series. I'm bringing this up because it also had a list of the Kremling characters that didn't appear as reoccuring enemies in the same manner as generic video game enemies (namely King K. Rool, DKC2 Advance's Kerozene, Klubba from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Krunch from Diddy Kong Racing, and the Donkey Kong Barrel Blast Kremlings). I suggest that we get an admin in here and merge that part of the article to this one. After all, this article is about DK characters in general, and those particular Kremlings deserve to have a new home here, should they? — NES Boy (talk) 03:35, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I say, if you've got that time, do it. RC-0722 communicator/kills 04:21, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
The problem is that I'm not an admin. If I were, I'd be able to access deleted articles. And as far as I know, I can't. — NES Boy (talk) 01:36, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Wrinkly Kong...?

If DK Jr. is the son of Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong is older than DK, then how exactly is Wrinkly K. his mother? ~The good editor, not the spammer with this IP #
