So the v19 info doesn't get reverted again...

Wallah, have the official publisher website URL with all the ISBN13s and whatnot: [1] --moof (talk) 17:13, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Split

[edit]

I've tagged this list with the suggestion that it be split into an episode list and a chapter list. This would allow for better MoS compliance, take care of the current size issues, and allow for more focused lists. Thoughts? AnmaFinotera (talk) 08:00, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm agnostic on the MoS compliance matter, but I don't like the idea of splitting the page. There are the manga and episodes, but there's also the soundtracks, which are mentioned in the lede, but should also be included below. More important a task by far is reformatting the manga list to accord with the likes of List of Naruto chapters (Part I), if that's the standard in chapter lists. I have to say, though that I'm not overly fond of chapter-lists absent publication dates of the chapters themselves. But that's neither here nor there, and I've been derelict in the task of maintaining this page.--Monocrat (talk) 22:10, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The soundtrack information would stay with the episodes and are unrelated to the mnaga. Chapter lists without the publication dates of the chapters are pretty much defacto because we often have enough trouble finding verification on start and ending dates of serialization. Getting verification on individual dates would be even harder. :P AnmaFinotera (talk) 23:45, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the difficulty of getting the chapters' publication dates, but that doesn't mean I agree with the idea of chapter lists without them. If you're making that level of detail the focus of the article or section, then the relevant data for that level of detail needs to be provided. Current practice, at least in the Naruto list liked above, confounds the relevant data for both chapter and volume by providing chapter names but volume publication data and summaries. Then there is reduplication in the List of Naruto manga volumes. But as is so often the case in these situations, I seem to be swimming against the tide. :-) In any case, I'm still opposed to the split: rather than providing focus, it would scatter and reduplicate effort, particularly when the list needs work as it is.--Monocrat (talk) 18:33, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Naruto has the manga volumes list because it has multiple lists of chapters due to its length (hence the Naruto manga chapters also being a featured topic). Excel Saga does not have such an issue and would just have a single standard chapter list such as List of Fruits Basket chapters, List of Marmalade Boy chapters, etc. As it is, this list could never be a featured list, but split and with some quick clean up, both could relatively quickly become proper featured lists. (BTW, the reformats of both are now done :P) AnmaFinotera (talk) 19:12, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good job on the reformat! :) Looking over the FL criteria, I don't see the problem. The entry topic is "Excel Saga media" and the list is comprehensive over the franchise's media Why not simply make the necessary clean-up to the article as it is and hazard an attempt at FLC?. I confess that I don't follow the FL candidate room, so has there been an actual discussion there to this effect elsewhere? Frankly, I think that the downside on either side of the issue are almost trivial: the certainty of having slightly more work in maintaining two pages to improve the odds of getting a bronze star, as opposed to the risk of being made to undertake that work for a bronze star. :)--Monocrat (talk) 20:05, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Because it isn't focused, it is too long, the lead is bad, can not have a singular image to represent the list, and it does not meet with the project MoS (and never could as the project has pretty much said a media list like this should not exist as the media sections of articles should not be broken out as one huge list, but as explicit and stand alone list of episodes, a list of chapters, and where relevant, a list of light novels. So basically, the project itself would likely be the strongest opposes to any such nomination in the current format. Having slightly more work to maintain two pages isn't really a good reason not to split, and it is rarely an issue once the list is in properly formatted, lead good, and summaries cleaned up. Splitting also allows for proper leads, with an image and better, cleaner referencing. AnmaFinotera (talk) 20:12, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(Breaking indent.) To wit: I don't think the split is necessary. If you feel strongly that it would improve the overall project, I won't revert anything.--Monocrat (talk) 17:42, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I really do think it will, so I will do the split this week if no one else objects :) AnmaFinotera (talk) 02:17, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting

[edit]

Over a month later, I finally do the split :P I'll work on cleaning up the leads for both the ep and chapter list, and adding in the missing refs. The episode summaries seem to be in good shape, so I think with the lead fixed and refs added, it would be ready for a copy edit and FLC. The chapter list needs some of its summaries fixed (and its missing three), but otherwise, it should be a fairly quick clean up as well. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 03:14, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What each episode involves

[edit]

Could someone work on explaining the beginning of each episode where Rikdo approves what the episode will be about? I started but if anyone can improve, please do so.
