Talk:List of Metamorphoses characters

VERY IMPORTANT::: Somewhere the table got mixed up and the header bar was changed to

Name Role Perseus]]' wedding. V: 137 [1]

It is Supposed to read

Name Role Appearance(s) in Metamorphoses (Book: verses) Ref(s)

I found what I think was the problem, but I normally don't make edits that repair something previously broken by another user, so I'm bringing it up here so that people can pay attention and double check my work.frey (talk) 16:31, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]

This list would be more valuable if we were to add Book numbers (perhaps even book & line numbers) for each character. That would make it a fully-functional character index to the Metamorphoses.

What do you folks think? To start things off, I'll go ahead and and this info for a few characters.

Agreed. —Quasirandom (talk) 04:21, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Workpage

[edit]

Will try to make this list into a table-list on /Table. --Regards, Mottenen (talk) 23:22, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Could I ask why you are putting a "See also" to this article on every article about one of these characters? What do you see that cross-reference as adding to the understanding of the 'character'? Cynwolfe (talk) 22:22, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Cynwolfe; adding a link to this list to, say Philomela (princess of Athens), seems pointless. It would be much more useful for readers of the list of Metamorphoses characters if the 25 or so links to disambiguation pages were resolved. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:45, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am not trying to bother you. Most of the disamb. pages links are because there are no real articles on the character and I didn't know whether to link or not - but the previous list had so I just did. Most list-in-see-also links I've seen are those on the music articles and those lists seem to be added to all see also's - I just thought it was custom standard then (I'm new, just trying to do the right thing). What goes for understanding it is meant to give an overview and I guess most hits on especially the minor characters are from those who read/have read the Metamorphoses and a link to this list might save them time searching. I am not finished with the list so please don't flame me for eventual wrong disambiguation links. Mottenen (talk) 15:00, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
See my talk page - I think Haploidavey's proposal seems reasonable. Mottenen (talk) 15:52, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, if it's really, really pestering you to see it, I will remove it - but I will let Myrrha's be where it is. Reason: I am referring to 6 or 7 characters of the Metamorphoses in the article, and a lot of the other characters' articles eventually will too when they get expanded. I added a "see also" link to this article at List of Roman deities and Roman mythology. Cynwolfe (talk) 21:22, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Missing characters

[edit]

Okay I see that Pythagoras was missing and yes I seem to have forgotten him. Will add when I've found the exact refs. Anyone else? Mottenen (talk) 18:44, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
