Jack Rakan
[edit]Why is his name being spelled as "Racan?" Don't cite his pactio card because the letter K is replaced with the letter "C" on all pactio cards. Further, in chapter 202, Akamatsu-sensei has the blackboard behind Negi and Chisame spell in Japanese AND English Jack's name. The English spelling is "Jack Rakan" not "Jack Racan." AstroNerdBoy (talk) 22:39, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Anya
[edit]Just for reference, the third official "Negipa" fanbook romanizes her name as "Annya". Shiroi Hane 08:36, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Kanka
[edit]Actually, Takahata's fighting style is called Kankahou in its entirety. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.184.234.201 (talk) 10:33, 7 December 2006 (UTC).
Kuneru Sanders OFFICIAL romanization
[edit]As early as volume 12 of the Japanese manga raw, we can clearly see that Akamatsu's official romanization of Albireo Imma's name is Kuneru Sanders around page 170. This is again repeated in Negima! volume 13's first chapter in a small computer screen.
- It may be the correct official translation but it's quite obviously referring to Colonel Sanders of KFC. On page 4 of chapter 163 there's even a picture of Colonel Sanders and Eva goes on to say he probably picked the name after liking the chicken. Kuneru Sanders is technically correct but its a little confusing. 204.13.78.146 21:25, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I made it so that its just linking to the Colonel now, without the "mistranslated" part. I reworded the trivia section so that it should now just talk about the various spellings. Or you could just remove it, if you like. SAMAS 01:44, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- It's the OFFICIAL romanization, not translation. Kuneru Sanders is not technically correct, since it IS correct. Why? Because it is a parody of Colonel Sanders. And as a parody, it is not meant to be translated as such, but it is meant to give out the same meaning. That is what a parody is, thus the joke by Asakura Kazumi, "who does he think he's fooling with that name?". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.27.108.147 (talk) 13:57, 23 February 2007 (UTC).
- Then use "Ku: nel" which is what Del-Ray used. That spelling is more eye-tolerable than "Kuneru". 75.57.164.192 16:01, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Which spelling is tolerable is a matter of opinion. If Akamatsu (who created Negima, not Del-Ray, who only localizes it for North America) wrote the guy's name as "Kuneru" twice with no other variations, then that's how it should be here. It's like insisting that Rei Hino's name be written "Raye" because the name DiC gave her is prettier looking. One is right, the other is opinion. --Billdorr 22:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Regardless, Kuneru or Kunel both refer to "Colonel", as the ORIGINAL name is "Colonel Sanders". Point is, this is all opinion. Funny how this is already mentioned on this thread. KyuuA4 15:42, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Apparently, it is rather common to dispute spelling from Japanese to English - particularly when a "Japanese" name is inspired by something in English. The real irony - this tendency to go with the "official romanization" does not seem to be consistent as "Albireo" should remain as "Arubireo". KyuuA4 15:42, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- FYI, the Negipa! Official Fan Book vol. 9 spells his name "Kuunel Sanders". Shiroi Hane 23:24, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
VA suggestion
[edit]I suggest that the Voice Actor information be given a separate section where they can be put in. It makes the biographies less cluttered and allows for easier modification if any more Negima! spinoffs are produced.
Donet McGuiness
[edit]Question- Where does it say that Donet McGuiness is Fate's mother? Until we find out that it was true or not, I was thinking that we shouldn't post that as fact, and I edited it to reflect that, but someone seemed to change it back. I guess what I am trying to ask for is a source to this.Jopchan121 09:05, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, there's only one possible source: Volume 174 of the manga. But what translation I've seen of it only says that she was helping Yuna's father research him.
If you look carefully at the page where Negi explain the important of "Partners" to Asuna in chapter 15 volume 2, you can find Donet McGuiness standing behind The Magus. This might be a implication that she is Magus's Ministra Magi.
124.120.104.25 10:18, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Having read a translation of volume 174, I have removed all claims of a relationship between Donet and Fate. Please do not reinstate them without definitive proof. SAMAS 01:24, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
To elaborate:
In volume 6, Evangeline mentions something "not human" about Fate, and suggests that he might be an artificial construct. In the translation seen so far of chapter 174, where Donet appears, there is no mention of any relationship between herself and Fate. She's only shown to be investigating him, primarily whether he, or whoever was behind him and Wilhelm, was also involved in Chao's actions.
Now, it's been claimed in the history section that the kanji for "son" is used by Donet. But I think, especially in light of the translation, to see some better evidence of their relationship, at least until the official translation comes out, because at the moment, the evidence seems to point against it. So let's not turn this into an edit war, okay? SAMAS 10:15, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Shouldn't Donet McGuiness be placed in Welsh Characters section? 1. She is mentioned coming from England 2. She was shown before in an earlier chapter with the Magus in Negi's explaination of ministras. ReddyRedWolf
Mei
[edit]I've removed the supposed flaws in the theory that Mei is the same Mei from Love Hina. The third is unclear, all three can be argued, and no sources were cited. First, there is speculation that Kanako Urashima is a witch of some kind, considering that her black cat can fly and talk. Second, hair color difference is not a valid argument, considering how hair color seems to differ between manga and anime adaptations frequently, especially with Akamatsu's work. And finally, Love Hina takes place in 2001, Negima in 2003, and the Love Hina Epilogue in 2005. Judging from these dates, I don't see how the age appearances of Mei in Love Hina and that of Mei in Negima are contradictory. Official sources for the ages of both characters would be necessary to confirm or deny the possibility of them being the same person. Even then, we won't know for certain until Akamatsu verifies that they are one in the same, but since there is little to back up these "flaws", I think they can be left out. Fate
[edit]Wasn't it stated that Albireo, meaning his astral form, could only leave the library during the festival? If that is the case, then when it is stated that Al is one of the only defenders left, doesn't that negate him as a defender since the world tree is no longer active? And since Mana and Takahata left as well, doesn't that bring the main defenders down to the Headmaster and Eva along with the other magic teachers?(ShadowMagus316 10:58, 2 December 2007 (UTC))
Chamo Article
[edit]considering that he's got a space longer than Takahata, Anya, Fate, Albireo, Eishun and Nagi (who got his own page anyway), I think that Chamo is more deserving of a page than most. Any thoughts? WickedKnightAlbel (talk) 17:46, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Kagetarou of Bosporos
[edit]thats the name of that guy who attacked Negi in chapter 198 right,do you think he should be added to the magic world characters?(Allen Walker 18:12, 21 March 2008 (UTC))

Trimming of characters
[edit]I can understand that the articles themselves need trimming, but what reason is there to remove the 'Height' stat from an article, yet leave the Birthday standing? Whoever made those edits, the heights should be put back in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.130.204.251 (talk) 21:38, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't care about the height issue so much, but the fact that Wikipedia becomes more and more useless everyday thanks to complete and total jackasses pisses me off to no end. Just delete everything here why don't you? After all, all this fiction crap is just fiction and serves no purpose at all.
The trimming did seem to be done overzealessly, I'm having trouble finding alot of information that i read here. Most the information has been removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.18.129.153 (talk) 19:45, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
Honestly this whole article needs to be severely trimmed, reworded, cited and possibly split between "Negima! Magister Negi Magi" based anime and manga and "Negima?! Neo" based anime and manga. The heights and birthdays, unless specifically significant to the storyline, do not belong on a wiki page. The different bios all mix traits and backgrounds from the various stories in the different manga and animes as well. Just off the top of my head "_____ is the (Color) baka ranger in the anime" when the same is seen in the Manga, etc. StryyderG (talk) 21:40, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Negi?
[edit]Why was Negi Sprinfield merged into this article while I understand the reason for everyone else to be put in one article, he is the protagonist has alot of info that one single lenght paragraph cannot even begin to cover it. If other none major characters of other media have a page for themseves why does he need to be merged. If there was a discussion on it can i get a link to it because it simply does not make any sense. 138.163.160.42 (talk) 16:14, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- The short answer is that there is no material in the article to demonstrate that the character has notability independant of the series. Without such sources, there is no need or justification for a seperate Article - being a main character isn't enough. As for the length of content, none of it was referenced anyway, making it easy to justify removal. Please do not restore the page without discussion regarding sources to prove notability. It should be noted that these issues had been highlighted on the article itself for a long time so people were given plenty of chances to fix it before it was merged. Dandy Sephy (talk) 14:21, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- But, what about the other Anime/Manga series: that allow main protagonists to have a separate page, and are just as old or have enough viable information to create those pages (If you want me to provide examples then tell me so). I don't see why this series has to take a hit from it. And the whole merging thing, it all seems like it was a blip and not a prolonged warning. If it had a warning, then provide evidence not just "short answer" or what you remember. Biocollector (talk) 17:02, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Just because there are other character articles doesn't many anything in relation to Negi Sprinfield's article. (see WP:OSE) Being a main character does not mean that the character may have an article. It may be that those characters meet the inclusion criteria for stand-alone articles. But more likely, it may just be that there articles need to be merged into their respective lists. --Farix (Talk) 17:47, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Okay then. But, finding viable sources to improve the nobility is difficult to some degree. Biocollector (talk) 18:08, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- So basically if the original article can be properly reference source, then it can be un-merged an set as an independent article? 138.163.160.42 (talk) 02:47, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- Not exactly. You have to give multiple references to reliable third-party sources, such as reviewers, scholars, and etc., that give more than trivial coverage of the character. Also the plot section will need to be extensively cut down to just one or two paragraphs describing Negi's role in the story. --Farix (Talk) 22:38, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Yue
[edit]"In the anime, Yue is also one of the Baka Rangers, wearing the black uniform." I took out the "in the anime" part, since she's a Baka Ranger in the manga too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.24.208.69 (talk) 23:33, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Narutaki twins
[edit]Are their entries correct? It says their pactio abilities in Negima! allow infinite cloning. I've not watched the anime version (which deviates from the original storyline) so I've no idea what powers they have there, but in the manga they have yet to form a pactio with Negima. In Negima!? their pactio powers give them the ability to be great detectives. Holywhippet (talk) 01:57, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Reorganization list
[edit]After going over this list, aside from the lack of citations, it has SEVERAL problems with it that should really be addressed. It contains quite a bit of fancruft, in-universe speak, OR, etc. Just off the top of my head I've come up with a list of things that should really be done to bring it back up to official wikipedia standards. I'll work on these myself but any help would be appreciated.
- Reorder characters - While I hate to deviate from the "Students/staff/magical world" but it doesn't really work for a literary article. Best bet is to list it as "Protagonists/Antagonists/minor characters" Withint the protagonists we could keep the class 2/3a listing merely because even though a handful of girls are constantly with Negi, Akamatsu attempts to give each girl a developemental storyline. Many of the characters should simply be reduced to groups in bullet lists, such as the magic teachers and the incidental characters in the magic world.
- Split the article between Negima! and Negima?! neo. It's weird to do, considering they ARE the same characters, but they change enough, IMO, that it would make this article unduly long to write a bio based on 4 different sources, since the 2 manga and animes are quite different from each other, not to mention the live action tv drama. Honestly, the better way to do this would be to rewrite this one as specifically based on the Negima! Magister Negi Magi manga and first anime series, then start a new page based on Neo afterward.
- Rewrite character bios based on the Manga (the original source) noting key character differences in the anime at the end of each bio.
- Remove OR/Fancruft - Remove all the incidental info not needed, such as inconsequential physical traits and unsourced OR (such as the Mei section referring to Love Hina, and the comparing of characters to unrelated similarities like the MGS references for Gandolfini.). The comparisons in the omake of the Tankobon, such as Akamatsu's character profiles likening Chizuru to Mutsumi, etc. are better used there rather than personal accounts of "He/she looks like (random character) from (Random source)"
- Add correct romanizations based on the Del Rey english manga translation. Per the MOS, any romanizations should be taken from the official English release, such as the previous argument about Albireo Imma's pseudonym which should be noted as "Ku:nel Sanders".
- Add refs!!!
There is a lot more that can be done, but for now this will suffice and then go from there once finished. StryyderG (talk) 22:03, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Evachan's family name

Ala Alba OVA English dub bogus credits
[edit]The Ala Alba OVA episodes have NOT been dubbed into English, so why are these credits constantly being appended to the characters? This requires confirmation that: 1. Funimation or another dub company announces they are licensing the OVA. 2. Company announces English cast and have indeed done major changes like Greg Ayres to Maxey Whitehead. Usually Anime News Network is on top of such announcements. AngusWOOF (talk) 22:03, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
