Vagueness

In the section about Mary:

discovered and befriended Mary, lending her financial assistance so that she could get a room of her own, and gifting her with a camera, which allows her (in a rare continuity gaffe) to aid Spider with photographic evidence in the Martial Law arc.

What exactly is this continuity gaffe?

In the section about The Beast:

Unlike The Smiler, The Beast's real name is mentioned only in passing early on in the series, and it was Spider who gave him the nickname.
