Scope of this list

[edit]

I take it that this is a list of classes of things each of which might be described as "an algebra". In other words, the article might begin "An X algebra is an algebraic structure satisfying the following properties". Out of scope would be descriptions of various topics within algebra, where the article might begin "Y algebra is the study of various algebraic objects with properties related to being Y". That being so, I think that linear algebra, homological algebra and universal algebra are out of scope for this list. Spectral sequence (talk) 12:51, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. I have made changes accordingly. (There is a more fundamental question of if there is a point of having an article like this, but I'll not get into it.) -- Taku (talk) 13:52, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Taku. The point is that someone could hear of several different examples of algebras and wonder what the other options there are. That is, what adjectives can preface the word "algebra". Crasshopper (talk) 17:49, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
SpectralSequence. Why not include both types and split the list? Crasshopper (talk) 17:50, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
