Purpose of this article

Main article: Dhampir

This article was made in response to the Dhampirs in Fiction section of the Dhampir article. In order to keep that article encyclopedic and prevent it from turning into a fan listing this article was made following the example of the List of fictional vampires article.

Please expand this list instead of filling the main Dhampir article with useless trivia and lists.

Guidelines

Please post in alphabetical order! Once each list gets long enough, feel free to add sub-headings for each letter for easier navigation (see the 'List of fictional vampires' literary section for more reference). Include ranges if not all letters are covered (i.e. X-Z). Unless a character's title is specifically part of their name (i.e. Count von Count of Sesame Street) or Count is used in the name of the character's corresponding Wiki article (i.e. Count Dracula), please refrain from listing the title when adding an entry, but rather place them alphabetically sans titles.

This article is a list, please do not break from the format when adding examples. Each entry's respective articles should provide any explanation if needed, as such there is no reason to post summaries. If you feel a need to justify your entry, include it in comments following your edit so you can alert future editors as to your reasoning without disrupting the flow of the article.

Make sure to always include both the character and the work of fiction the character is from. If it is the case that the character appears in more than one category, make sure to link to the correct page. For example, D from Vampire Hunter D is currently in every category but each fiction link is to the corresponding version's (literary, film, manga, video game, etc.) correct wiki article.

Notability and Citation Explanation

Please stop adding both of these tags.

As for Citation, every entry added to the list also adds the work of fiction the character originated from and if the article exists a direct link to that works' article in wikipedia. This is a list including fictional dhampirs, the sources are the works that include said dhampirs and such the citation would be covered in the link after the entry. This is not the article about dhampirs, but a reference list about them, in fact it was removed from the main dhampir article for taking up too much space and was told by admins to make it into a separate article. By adding footnotes for each entry it would do nothing but take up more space and make the list more difficult to read / navigate / and gain info from (which is counter to wiki's purpose of a list). Quote from Wiki: "Lists contain internally linked terms and thus in aggregate serve as natural tables of contents and indexes of Wikipedia."

Now, as for notability... currently the list has over 50 entries, and directs to over 45 articles. That's over 45 secondary sources. If you notice there are three similar lists on Wiki currently. List of Fictional Vampires, List of Fiction Dhampirs, List of Vampires in Folklore and Mythology. First off, combining all three would create an article too long and actually hinder readers. Second of all, all link to each other on the top of the page as they provide information on related to topics. The Mythology article is not separated into Vampire and Dhampir as the split in concept is not entirely present in Mythology. That lists reflects how the theme of vampirism is reflected in different myths and therefore the two concepts shouldn't be seperate. Vampires were interpreted differently by different cultural groups.

In fiction, however, the two are often explicitly defined. There are several works that explicitly deal with the concept of half-vampires alone, half-vampires versus full vampires, etc. (See Vampire Hunter D, Blade, etc). They are two different concepts, two different types of articles. In mythology the concept and origins of vampires and werewolves overlap, so both could be mentioned in a mythology article. You would not lump both the same in a fiction article.

• You do not own this article. The hat links were misused, I moved them. An expansion tag should only be used if a list of woefully incomplete, to the point the article could be considered inaccurate, so I removed it. All Wikipedia articles, except perhaps featured ones, could stand to be expanded, so that particular tag was merely an eyesore. As the Main template lists in its documentation, it's meant for use in sections spun off via summary style, not lists like this. Every single change was justified and correct, and I'd appreciate it if you checked that before reverting someone for editing "your" article. Mintrick (talk) 12:56, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I never claimed it was my article, all I was stating is that before you make major revisions to an article which you've never edited before, it's courtesy to discuss it on the talk page or at least state your reason for doing so once you make the edit instead of after the fact. Your attitude doesn't help the article or Wiki as a whole. Additionally, the article was only recently made, during which time templates help new articles get expanded by other contributors. Whereas making edits without stating reasons on talk pages do not contribute to the growth of new articles. In fact by making edits without stating your reason on the talk page is counter-productive because then other users would view the removal as vandalism and restore it without knowing they are in the wrong (from WP:OWN If you find that the editor... wages revert wars, try to ignore disruptive behavior by discussing the topic on the talk page, something which was beginning to go on between you and 24.190.34.219 but you failed to post on the Talk page). Moving three links and removing a nag tag hardly counts as a major change. I do not see that the statement "Whereas making edits without stating reasons on talk pages do not contribute to the growth of new articles" has any basis in fact. It is very common for more experienced users to help Wikify articles made by new users, as I did for this one. Those edits are almost never discussed, because they're not controversial. Controversy (or uncertainty) are the reasons we discuss changes before making them. Moving around some links wasn't either, so I felt no need to do so. Mintrick (talk) 21:25, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Saya

It should be noted that Saya is NOT a Dhampir, too lazy to find direct sources, but off the top of my head, the Blood the Last Vampire wiki article says as much (refrences her from the movie being the last original) also, the somewhat (alternate universe?) Tv series, has her as one of two mothers of vampires, moreso, the comics (iirc technically too short to be manga's) also refer to her being 'pure'. Not going to remove from article, but further discussion is needed 173.183.233.216 (talk) 02:01, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Connor (Angel)

So, I am wondering if Connor from the series Angel would be worth mentioning in this article. The only problem I see here is the fact that both of his parents were vampires. He does, however, exhibit traits typically associated with half-vampires, as his heart beats and he has a soul, while still retaining the typical vampiric powers and abilities. Since he is the son of a vampire, he seems to be close enough to a dhampir to warrant a mention on this list. This list needs some cleanup as well.

First of all, I'd like to separate the TV from Film into two sections, then the Anime from comics in a new section (animated) and move anything there that's animated. Navigation would be a bit easier if we did this. Ncboy2010 (talk) 17:11, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

It also seems that entries are being added without regard to the specifics of the different section. The first two entries in the first section - "Literary" - were from a video game and netflix series, respectively. (I moved them.)
