Scalia and Rehnquist[edit]

There's something seriously wrong with describing Scalia as having begun his "active service" on the Supreme Court on September 25, one day before Rehnquist was confirmed as Chief Justice. Rehnquist was still occupying the seat that Scalia had been confirmed to, and they didn't both hold it at the same time. Scalia cannot fairly be said to have been "actively serving" on the Supreme Court while Rehnquist was still an Associate Justice. I believe we use commission dates rather than oath dates for the "active service" column, but if that's what we want to do, we should really change what the column is called. Because this nonsense is just silly. LacrimosaDiesIlla (talk) 13:12, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
