Thetis in Unknown date

[edit]

I have found another source for the UK ship Thetis Described in the following way: "The ship ran aground at "Realijo", Chile before 22 June."

From the Gaceta del Salvador, Tomo 3, Número 8, July 4 1851, San Salvador; Movimiento Marítimo(Maritime Movement); Desgracia (Disgrace); translated from Spanish: "The ship "Thetis" which came from Liverpool with cargo for the ports of Realejo (in Nicaragua) and Acajutla (in El Salvador) and the rest in Ixtapa (in Guatemala) for belonging to businessmen from the city of Guatemala was sunk in the last 6th of june at 20 miles from the said port of Realejo. The loss is total, for although with the efforts of don Antonio Mathé 600 "bultos" were saved, they are in a state of not being transportable. Sensible is this disgrace that we deplore, announcing it only for the convenience of those interested."
