In March 2018, Sinclair Broadcasting Group required their news anchors to read a prepared script charging a proliferation of "fake news" in the media, suggesting that attacking President Donald Trump's view of events was "extremely dangerous to our democracy." Sinclair's editorial approach leans heavily toward conservative ideals.

Notice that Public Broadcasting Networks are not on the list. There we can continue to obtain unbiased news reports, not "fake" news. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.62.22.101 (talk) 13:04, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • The NYT quote has apparently been removed from the article. Discussion of company practices belongs in the article about the company. -- Bistropha (talk) 09:04, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Undefined Acronym[edit]

In this article, DT is an undefined acronym. What does DT stand for, and what do the levels mean, i.e., DT1, DT2, DT3, and DT4?

  • It probably refers to the primary channel of the station (with the suffix "-1") and the subchannels of the station (with suffixes "-2", "-3", etc.) Stations vary in how many subchannels they transmit. -- Bistropha (talk) 09:00, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
DT stands for Digital TV, a call letter suffix starting to be used to identity a station's digital signal versus its analog (-TV) during transition to digital when they had both signals. Bistropha is correct in what it means, but this is not an industry standard as a station can specify any string in its PSIP for its subchannels. Some show networks initials, others use WXXX-D1 ,etc. or callsigns plus network WXXXABC. Spshu (talk) 16:22, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Washington DC's News Channel 8 is a subsidiary of ABC7, thus also owned by Sinclair. ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NewsChannel_8_(cable_channel) 100.15.87.52 (talk) 02:25, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. L293D ( • ) 12:14, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

State[edit]

It seems this article would be much more useful for readers using desktop Wikipedia if the list of stations was sortable by which of the 50 states each station is located in. Why is the location only sortable by first letter of city (or maybe call letters)? -- RobLa (talk) 01:05, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is a dispute regarding how WDSI-TV is handled on this (and related) pages. Could @Rusf10 and Neutralhomer: and any other editors interested please discuss it here and not at ANI? User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 00:40, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I already started a discussion at the WDSI talk page at Talk:WDSI-TV#Sinclair does NOT own or operate this station, never has.--Rusf10 (talk) 00:48, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
